The physical and ebook versions were published on September 29th, with the audiobook on CD and vinyl out October 2nd. In late July, Lana released the audiobook version of her first poetry collection, Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass. Overall, Lana has described Chemtrails Over The Country Club as having a Midwestern sound and being folky. “Dealer” may be that song – a track in which Lana is “just screaming my head off.” That’ll be a different sound for her! She stated that her album doesn’t quite feel perfect yet, and might need one more defining song. Lana also mentioned “Dealer” – which may or may not make the tracklisting. Nowadays, you get a beautiful melody but you don’t really know what the person is talking about, or if it’s even important to them. In the grunge movement, a lot of the lyrics were super abstract, but the melodies and the tonality were such a vibe that you felt like you knew exactly what the singer was thinking. I hate when I hear a song that has a great melody, but I have no idea what they’re talking about. What I like about that song is that for all of its weirdness, when you get to the end of it, you understand exactly what it’s about. One confirmed song is “White Dress/Waitress,” which they wrote early, starting with Jack Antonoff playing piano she calls it the album’s “defining moment.” She described it further: We know a few additional titles that Lana mentioned during her interview with Jack Antonoff for Interview Magazine’s September issue. Last summer, Lana also previewed her new song “Tulsa Jesus Freak.” Lana already filmed the music video for “Chemtrails Over The Country Club,” the album’s title track. Stay tuned for more news about the covers album coming our way this holiday season! More About Chemtrails Over The Country ClubĪ few weeks ago, Lana shared “Let Me Love You Like A Woman” as the first taste of the upcoming album. Check out Lana’s album announcements below: It will include at least one Patsy Cline cover and some “really cool Americana songs” as well. Today, she didn’t confirm the name of the forthcoming record, but she did say we’d get it in December. At the time, she suggested calling it Pacific Blue. Lana has shared numerous covers throughout her career, and just last year said she’d like to release a covers album. Lana’s companion Clay confirmed that Chemtrails Over The Country Club is beautiful and will be “worth the wait.” It’s folky, it’s beautiful, it’s super different from Norman. So there’s that.Īnd in the meantime I did this beautiful a cappella version of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” for this awesome documentary about Liverpool football manager and a bunch of other little things.īut I’ll still be recording. That probably goes for a lot of people on Interscope. Because I can’t get the record plants to open until March 5th. Luckily, to tide fans over, she has a holiday gift coming our way: a covers album!Ĭhemtrails Over The Country Club, right: 16-week delay on the vinyl process, so in the meantime, I’m gonna give you a digital record of American standards and classics for Christmas. We’ve even gotten to hear one song so far, “Let Me Love You Like A Woman.” But according to Lana, she’s run into an issue with the vinyl pressing plant, and it won’t be ready until at least March. It was originally expected in September, and then December. First and foremost: Her album Chemtrails Over The Country Club has been delayed.
